Indian furniture buyers are online-ready

Recently, we conducted a Home Interior Exhibition in one of the suburban residential complex. In the said exhibition we showcased all our online offerings viz. Readymade Furniture, Custom Requirements, Interior Designing Services with 3D techniques and so on. We had kept some of our classic Sheesham pieces of furniture for spot sale.

We were amazed with the overwhelming response. The event was a hit at the bull’s eye. The success factor is quite simple to decode. People, today, in almost all parts of India are happy with online solutions. For them, online equates to instant perhaps.

I will share my experience as an Exhibitor and a customer as well. The most asked question was whether we have an online catalogue of displayed products. The physical catalogue was flipped though. Gone are the days when touching and feeling the product was important before buying. Customers are happy with images from all angles and the zooming option which gives them a clear idea of the product. In real sense, we all exist more in a virtual world.

On showing the physical catalogue, visitors were more interested in images on the computer. There was a sharp belief that design on paper is limited and typical. There can be greater variety and innovation only on the computer. Was it a conscious effort to save the environment or otherwise?? It is an established fact that technology offers numerous options and choices and customer today wants them. He wants to make an informed decision.

The 3D technology has always appealed to people. It is mainly because of the realness and life in the image. When the same technology is used in designing home interiors, the possibilities are limitless. That’s exactly what the customer wants today. He is ready to explore and choose the best option for him. This technology helps him envision his home after the designing and hence he doesn’t need to imaginative.

Most importantly, we focussed on talking about the concept of Houseome brand. But their interest lied in our website. In a flash, the Smartphones were out and they were browsing www.houseome.com. We appreciated the action as it also saved us some efforts of talking out the concept.

It was more than evident that Indian consumer co-exists in the virtual world too. This event proved to be the first step towards a bigger picture that we wish to paint online. There are innumerable opportunities that the internet space beholds. All segments can be explored and we have already kick-started in the online Furniture one. Technology is a boon and the Indian Consumer has done away with all his inhibitions to be an online shopper!!
